If you follow me on social media, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been slightly addicted to two new health and wellness products. My acupressure mat and my ice roller. I am totally obsessed, y’all! I blame Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential for both of these new obsessions (Check out her blog and social media if you don’t already follow her. She’s awesome!).
So, the acupressure mat. Seriously…it is unbelievable. This might be one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. It’s essentially a “bed of nails” that helps relieve so many issues. I tend to carry my stress in my upper back and neck, and let me tell you, just a few minutes each day on this and I already feel so much better. Yes, it is a little uncomfortable (maybe slightly painful for some) at first, but that quickly goes away and you won’t believe how good you will feel. I’ve always wanted to try acupuncture but I don’t know of anywhere local that does it (yay, small town living), but this has got to be the next best thing, I bought this one from Amazon, and it came with both the pillow and mat.
Basically, you just lie on the mat where it covers your whole back for 10-20 minutes. I put the pillow under my neck but some like it under their head. Whatever works for you! You can also stand on it for help with your feet or really use it to relieve stress or whatever for any part of your body. I do wear a thin shirt and yoga pants with it, but some might feel it works better when you’re on it with bare skin. You do whatever works! But the one thing you HAVE to remember is to make sure to drink at least 24 oz of water once you’re done. I use mine before bed because I feel it relaxes me, but some say to use it upon waking up as it refreshes you from sleep.
Now for the ice roller. You NEED this in your life. It’s basically an affordable version of an ice facial that you can use daily. It is a cylinder with gel and sometimes water that has a handle and you roll it on your face or any body part that needs some lifting or refreshing, I use mine first thing in the morning and sometimes at night if I’ve indulged in too much salty foods or too many tasty beverages. It reduces puffiness on your face, under your eyes, on your eyes, and your neck. I’ve also noticed that the redness in my face is slowly going away, also. Plus, if it’s as hot where you are as it is here, it’s very nice to help cool down. It even helps with lymphatic drainage! To use, you freeze the cylinder and then roll from the center of your face outward to your ears. Don’t freak that it’ll be too cold; it really isn’t. It’s super refreshing and relaxing! I have this one from Amazon, but there are a TON of them available.
So there you go! Two of my absolute FAVORITE health and wellness items right now. They are inexpensive and totally worth the money. I also threw in one of my bkr bottles for fun since it matched! Hydration is ALWAYS important for good health and wellness!
Have a happy, healthy rest of your summer!
